The Forest House

A 1927 stone house in Versailles, with a garden that opens onto the forest. Paris within reach.

€2,200,000 · approx. US$2.5 million

The Residence

The feeling of the countryside, in Versailles.

Built in 1927 of local millstone and fully renovated in 2020, The Forest House stands on a quiet residential avenue where Versailles gives way to the Fausses-Reposes forest. Wisteria climbs the façade, the double living room opens onto the terraces, and at the far end of the garden, a door in the old stone wall leads straight into the woods.

It is a house made for long lunches outside, fires in winter and friends who stay the weekend — with the Palace of Versailles and Paris close enough to become part of everyday life.

The Garden & the Forest

A gate at the end of the garden.

Behind the house, a lawn bordered by mature trees and flowering shrubs leads to an old stone wall. Open the door in that wall and you step directly into the Forêt de Fausses-Reposes, a state forest crossed by walking and riding trails.

Not every house on the street has this access. Here, a morning walk, a run or a ride through the woods starts at your own garden gate — and the Haras de Jardy, with its equestrian center, golf course and tennis courts, lies half a mile away as the crow flies.

The Guest Cottage

A house for guests, across the lawn.

Set apart at the end of the garden, an independent cottage of over 430 sq ft (40 m²) offers a living area under exposed beams, a kitchenette and a bedroom. Grown children, visiting parents, friends from abroad — or a quiet place to work.

Buying in France

Can non-residents buy property in France?

Yes. There are no restrictions on foreign buyers, whether or not they live in France.

How does the process work?

Once a price is agreed, buyer and seller sign a preliminary contract before a notary. The buyer then has a 10-day cooling-off period. The final deed is usually signed about three months later, once financing and legal checks are complete.

Can I see the house before traveling?

Yes. We are happy to arrange a live video tour, then an in-person visit whenever you are in France.

General information only, not legal or tax advice. Your notary will guide you through each step.
